On a vacation in Toronto but don’t know where to start exploring? This huge city has a lot of nice places to visit, and with a few days left on your schedule, you might be confused where to go or what to do.

In this article, I’m going to share great ways to spend weekends at Toronto. I’m not into thrilling adventures type of person, so I prefer peaceful and pleasant interests. If you’re tired of the noisy streets and pressures at work, better relax and visit these spots.

Visit animals at the zoo

You may have pets at home but its not everyday that you get to see wild animals. Spend some time at the zoo to visit the animals. The Toronto Zoo is the largest zoo in Canada that houses more than 5,000 animals. The place is divided into different zones which features several animals in their natural habitat.

One of my personal favorites is the Australasian Pavilion. It’s where I get to see cute Western grey kangaroos, wallabies, kookaburras, and even komodo dragons. I also visited the zone called Africa, as it has white African lions, white rhinoceroses, spotted hyenas, masai giraffe, and a lot more. This world-class zoo is located at 2000 Meadowvale Road, Toronto, Ontario.

Aside from visiting the zoo, I also had fun watching fish and other marine life at Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada. This enormous aquarium owned by Ripley Entertainment has over 13, 500 exotic marine life. It is divided into nine galleries, each featuring various species including green sea turtles, upside-down jelly, giant pacific octopus, southern stingray, and white-spotted bamboo sharks. The Rainbow Reef, one of the galleries, is visited by many due to its interactive dive show.

Appreciate History and Art

I love visiting art galleries and museums, and one of the best I have seen so far is in Toronto. The Royal Ontario Museum (ROM), with its 40 galleries displays more than six million artifacts. Some of the galleries display international artifacts, natural history, design pieces from the Art Deco Period, and vast collections of dinosaur bones. On the other hand, the spectacular paintings at the Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO) never failed to amaze me.

The museum itself is interesting inside and out after the transformations made into it by Frank Gehry. It also gained the international spotlight with its largest collection of sculptures in the Henry Moore room. With thousands of classical and contemporary paintings, drawings, and photography from Canada and Europe, the Art Gallery of Ontario indeed stands out from the rest.

Enjoy the View from Above

You wouldn’t want to miss the most popular spot in Toronto – the CN Tower. Known as the tallest structure in the continent, the CN Tower is also one of the modern Seven Wonders of the World. This 553.3-meter-high tower offers a stunning view of the city. It has a Look Out Level, where you’d be 1,136 feet above the ground. You can level up this thrilling experience by trying the Sky Pod and Edge Walk. The latter is the ultimate challenge, where you’ll have to conquer your fear of heights by walking handsfree on the edge of the tower!

The CN Tower is located at 301 Front Street West, Toronto, Ontario.
